"George"

Description: Venice was one of my favorite places to visit in Europe, but it was so incredibly over-touristed during the summer. Surprisingly then, it was free to go into the Basilica San Macro. Once inside (and we ran into people we knew from the US, wow), there were a number of pay-per-visit areas, including a reliquary. We decided to shell out to see various bones, etc, and I snapped a few illicit pictures.

All over Europe I took pictures of St. George, I guess because he's the prototypical chivalrous knight, and also my favorite parts of Christianity are where they're so obviously appropriating pagan rituals.

In this picture, I'm primarily attracted to the colors, and the very short depth of field.

Post-production: I sharpened up the image, but ended up not changing the colors at all. I did produce a more stylized version, with strokes overlain, but stuck with the original in the end.
